London MCM Expo May 2010 Part 1

So I've managed to complete the colouring of my Ares fanart, which you can see in full here and I think maybe I should've left well enough alone with the shading, since it looks kind of grainy. Or maybe I meant to do it like that! Yeah, let's just say this is on purpose...yeah.

I tried using some new brushes to colour with and I think I'm getting the hang of using photoshop, although I can't seem to use the gradient tool without adding more layers of colour over it using the brush tool, rendering the intended effect pointless. 

I know I'm supposed to post up pictures of the London MCM Expo but unfortunately, I didn't bring a camera, I bought a camcorder so until I actually edit the 50 million short clips I shot with it, I can only present the loot I managed to hoard (oh and some screenshots of those clips, I guess). I'm sorry, I didn't get a lot of shots of cosplayers, especially on the first day because of many, many ohmigod so many issues concerning our costumes which were mostly my fault D:

My friend kept laughing at me whenever she saw my back. Said I had a turd in my hair.

Even with all our preparations though, we still couldn't get everything finished on time, so we wound up being 3 hours late leaving the house. Our fake eyelash glue was basically made of water and the manufacturer's tears, so we had to buy more at Boots, we had to put double-sided glue on our tights to make them stay up, which would fall off uselessly like a limp noodle after a few minutes, I had to repeatedly learn how to tie a bow on our many, many ribbons and because of my pathetic head scarf/beanie for some stupid reason my wig wouldn't stay on and kept falling down the other side of my skull!!!! sdgajdshfaslhf!!!

After 5 hours, we finally were ready to go out into the convention and pose

I kept adjusting my wig like I was possessed 

We managed to meet up with another friend of mine, who was competing in the Yu-Gi-Oh National competition, which was something I never knew existed. He offered to drive us home, earning our everlasting gratitude and I will spread the word on the internets of his chivalry.

Thank you for your car driving abilities!

 And then he got a ticket for parking illegally next to my flat. (I'm so sorry!!! I will pay you back for it!! I swear!!) 

We ate some chinese food (roast duck, king prawn, beef) and then went home exhausted, this time not even bothering to prepare for the next day. Let the chips fall where they land, y'know? At least the costume for the 2nd day was relatively easy and didn't require a wig (ksjdsagdaldjlkdh) and plus we had eyelash glue, so I was pretty confident we would make it out of the flat an hour before the expo's opening time.

Actually, we left only an hour late, but that's a heck of a lot earlier than the first day!

I'll post more about the 2nd day soon. I haven't even put up pics of my loot!
