Alright! Let’s get this out of the way because it’s been x months since the event and frankly, I’m starting to forget what even happened that day. And does anybody even care anymore? Cause I sure don’t.
So RECAP:
2 days of cosplaying. 2 days of uncontrollable excitement and frustrating headaches (it was not the best day to try on a wig for the first time). I saw many memorable sights, discovered how crappy my filming skills are and vowed never to underestimate fake eyelashes ever again.
Next time, the lashes will be at MY mercy and not the other way around.
So what did I gain? Aside from shaky videos and bleeding blisters?
I GAINED THIS.
Does it not blind you with its BEAUTY? |
Oh, and the synopsis makes me want to quickly read this book fast.
Does Auden get to fit in? Does Mr. Brooding Eyes help her fit in??? |
Oh, and here's something for all you manly men out there.
"Our facial hair proves that we are men" |
I did get some worthwhile things. But of course, they cost me money.
Anything of worth in this world will cost money. I believe this.
First off, a few books from an artist I discovered at last year's convention. naniiebim's art is very simple and rough, but I like the energy of the character's movements.
From her demon series: Mephistos |
About a woman who meets her new neighbor, who happens to be a demon |
An artbook of her past coloured works |
A new poster for my wall <3 |
It looks nothing like me at all, but I like that she added my hair accessory. Ok, maybe my face IS that square. |
You know John Allison? Of Bad Machinery and Scary-Go-Round fame? Well, guess who happened to be a guest artist at this little gathering? NO, GUESS.
John Allison!!!!!
A webcomicker that I admire, is actually in the same city, nay, the same building as me! (Wow, that doesn’t sound stalker-ish at all) Unfortunately, I didn’t take his picture. Actually, I didn’t even get to have a conversation with him. At least, not one that normal people would have.
Me: Ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod!!
M: What??
Me: I found him! He’s right there! John Allison!
M: Well, why don’t you talk to him? You’ve been going on about him since yesterday.
Me: What do I say? I don’t want to sound like a nerd…
Slowly, I walked up to his booth, only to smoothly walk past it. And then I pretended to look at the booth next to his. I turned around, then glided past once again to browse through the comics of the artist on his left. I did all this, while determinedly avoiding eye-contact.
This went on for awhile, until---
M: Dude, I seriously want to slap you.
Me: I want to slap me, too!
So, I finally approached him, my eyes unblinking, my smile a little too wide. I don’t really remember what I said to him, but afterwards he gave me a look of understanding and carefully handed me a Scary Go Round sticker. As we walked way, M told me how much of a spaz I was, but she might as well have been talking to a wall because I was all FREE STICKER HELL YEAH.
The next day, I hoped that after the initial meeting, I would have calmed down somewhat and maybe this time I could ask him a few questions about his drawing process. But no, I chickened out in the end and pretended that I was an entirely different person (which technically was true, since I wasn’t wearing a wig this time) who was not:-
A) A creepy fan, and
A) A creepy fan, and
B) Someone who had even heard of the name John Allison.
Yes, I walked up to that booth, acted like I was meeting him for the first time, expressed mild curiosity about this comic series I had never in my life read before (Huh, what’s it about? Supernatural happenings? Hmm, that might be interesting, I’ll give it a try), bought all his books, and then left without a backwards glance.
Yeah, that’ll show ‘em who’s crazy.
From his series, "Scary Go Round" |
Yay, free sketch! |

ReplyDeletebtw, when do i get to see ur face on ur blog??
This is a public blog, so I won't be showing my face here at all. The blog is for me to rant about things I like, but not really show what I look like (plus it's the internet. People judge too easily on the internet)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I want to respect my friend's privacy. So if I add your picture one day, I'm going to censor you too :D
you took so looooooong to update and fill in the story that i almost forgot about it too! but i'm so happy that ur enthusiasm is still there and still maintains its excitement! hahaha
